Leader & Deputy Applicants Answer the following:
Your cat's clanmates bring in a loner, how does your cat handle this?
• First she would ask why the loner was brought in. Were they trespassing? Stealing? Looking for help? If the answer was the latter she would consider sending a patrol of warriors to see what the problem is and what they can do about it. If the loner was hoping to join the clan she would suggest to her leader to create a ‘trial period’ (about a moon) to see how well the loner settled in and followed the clan's lifestyle. Depending on if they did well or badly, they would either be accepted or turned away. If the loner was a trespasser and a prey-stealer she would give them a strong warning and chase them from her territory with the help of a few other warriors.
How does your cat deal with warriors breaking the code?
• Pigeonstep would probably be a bit lax when having to deal with code-breakers, depending on what they did. For young apprentices and first-time code-breakers she may simply give them a scolding, but older apprentices or warriors who broke the code more than once would be sent to rid the elders of ticks and/or not be allowed to eat until they have cleaned/renewed everyone’s nests or hunted for everyone. While she may not be very severe when punishing the breaking of minor codes, she feels quite strongly about taking the life of another cat, and thus she would encourage her leader to exile murderers (though she may be persuaded to let the exiled cat return after a period of time if the death seemed accidental).
Another clan is stealing your clan's prey, you didn't see them, but you can smell them, how does your cat deal with the situation?
• Pigeonstep would wait with a patrol on the border of the other clan. When a patrol of the other clan’s comes by, she would casually mention finding their scents and see what they had to say about it. If they admitted guilt, she would give them a warning to stop. If they admitted it and gloated about it, she’d probably attack. If they denied it, she would not press the matter further in that encounter, but if the other clan’s scents are still found on her territory by the night of the gathering, she would suggest to her leader to make a formal announcement about their findings to warn the other clan. If the prey-stealers still continued she might advise her leader to retaliate by sending hunting patrols into their territory or directly attacking the other clan.
Your character is faced with the decision of going to battle with a clan or diffusing tension, how do they go about the situation?
• Before doing anything drastic, Pigeonstep would try to organise a private meeting with the leader and/or deputy of the other clan. She would usually try to give a few warnings before going to battle, and she’d be very open to negotiations if she thinks it will be profitable for her clan and avoid bloodshed.
What are the traits that your cat would receive their nine lives for?
1. Humour to find light in even the darkest times
2. Courage to make difficult decisions and defend ShadowClan with everything she has
3. Love for all the clans and what they stand for
4. Stealth to be as silent as the shadows the clan is named for
5. Faith in StarClan and her clanmates to guide her when she is uncertain
6. Empathy to understand the plights and motivations of those around her
7. Perseverance to keep going even in the most hopeless moments
8. Patience when mentoring apprentices and to keep her composure in conflict
9. Trust in her senior warriors and elders; they have a lot of experience and advice she can learn from
