{Main Skyclan Camp} Oh,Tidings of Comfort and Joy

A shiver ran through the length of Owlfur's body as she became keenly aware of the cold. She breathed in deeply, immediately regretting it as the crisp air cut through her nostrils as if they were an enemies claws. The thin warrior opened her bulging eyes, allowing them to adjust to the brightness of the morning and reflective white snow on the ground. Great... she thought crossly.

With some effort, Owlfur stood up, giving her chest a few licks before deeming herself presentable enough to go out to the clearing, and receive her orders from Torntail. Despite the warmth the other warriors gave off in their small den, the small she-cat couldn't help but feel chilled with her sickly body. It would be better if she got herself moving before she found herself frozen to her nest.

There was no longer any sign of precipitation when Owlfur padded out into the clearing, making a beeline straight for the fresh kill pile, and picking out a thrush for herself. In her excitement to nab something to eat, she hadn't noticed Lionstar and Lostpaw at first, and walked away to a popular spot for senior warriors to eat. Settling down to eat, she pricked her ears toward her vigilant clan mates, and gave her leader a nod before digging into her prey.

Lostpaw is the first, first to leap out of the nursery as a kit, first to open his eyes, the first kit of Lionstar. Lostpaw wriggles out of his dad's jaws and feels his feet hit the cold snow below him. He'd probably felt snow before, but he couldn't conjure up any memories of it, but he does remember the sounds of coughing and illness.Lostpaw jumps a bit at the frost nipping at his nose and turns toward any, and every sound in the forest, before settling on Owlfur's paw-steps. Soft, but heavy, just like a Skyclan cat, but the indents her paws made in the snow were smaller and lighter than most. Lostpaw crouched on his haunches and broke into a run, quick to inspect the measly pickings of the fresh kill pile. He could practically feel the chill radiating off of it, or, maybe it was just the cold around him. He gave a soft shudder and turned to Lionstar. "Can I go on a patrol with some of the warriors?" He asked, a bold inclination in his voice as he tilted his head a bit.

(I haven't made an alter for Lionstar yet, also, do you mean make separate posts for the two of them, when you said to post them separately?)
Lionstar jumped a bit at the question. He nervously glanced over to Torntail. Um, help?  The golden tom cleared his throat and looked over the fresh-kill pile. Yeesh. He stood at his full height-though this was hardly intimidating now, not like Lostpaw could tell, plus the black cat was already up to his shoulders now- and finally spoke,"You'd need a mentor for that, Lostpaw." He looked away from his son, trying not to stare at the way his ever-dilated pupils flared up in frustration.  "But, it'd be a good introduction to life as an apprentice." He motioned,"Come here." with his tail to Owlfur. "Congratulations, Owlfur, you and Lostpaw will be on a hunting patrol together!" Lionstar purred, hesitation in his rumbling voice.

Weaselflight stepped out of his den feeling the cold air upon his fur and looked around the camp as other cats came out of their dens as well. Since it was it was leaf-bare he needed to keep a eye out for all of his clanmates as it was the easiest time for any cat to get sick. He noticed the figures of Lionstar and Lostpaw from across the camp as he stretched out. After finishing his stretches Weaselflight watched as his leader motion over the sickly looking form of Owlfur. He got up from a sitting position and trotted over to hear what Lionstar was planning.

When Weaselflight heard the words Owlfur, Lostpaw, and hunting so close together he couldn’t help feeling worried. After he had reached the group he cleared his throat and spoke with a concerned voice, “Now hold on a bit. I don’t think that both of them should go just yet before I can fully give them a checkup.”

Owlfur felt irritation as the SkyClan leader and his adopted son came over to speak with her, the thrush she had chosen laying unfinished at her paws. Despite him being at the highest position of the clan, she couldn't help but feel a prickle run through her fur when he gave orders. Perhaps it was because he was so much younger than her, or perhaps it was because he was a tom. There was no good of toms. She watched as he gestured for the black apprentice, her eyes widening at the words that tumbled from his mouth. He couldn't be serious.

The sickly thin she-cat stared at him with wide eyes, surprised by the order. She held back a hiss as she looked over Lostpaw, and sat up, giving her chest a few licks to stall time when Weaselflight padded over. Relief smoothed her pelt when the medicine cat spoke, and she nodded towards him, before adding her own words when she looked at Lionstar, "He better to be ready to get into shape then if he's coming with me."

Torntail looked over at the gathered cats, not noticing Owlfur's irritation. Which patrols should be sent out? She wondered, watching Weaselflight do his check-up. On one claw, there was barely any prey for on the fresh-kill pile, but it wasn't likely that a patrol could find any prey in this terrible snow. Plus, who knows what ThunderClan and ShadowClan are currently planning. They could have crossed the border because there was no patrol! And fighting is hard on empty stomachs...but which side should be patrolled anyhow?...Torntail's mind was always doing this.

"Lionstar." Torntail turned to face her leader, ignoring the rest of the cats. "I'm going to send out a border patrol. Do you think Owlfur and Lostpaw would suffice?"

Lionstar rolled his eyes a little at Owlfur. Ah, Owlfur, the feline equivalent to a burr stuck in your pelt. Acting rude to everyone she met, even those who were in a higher position than her. "You can finish your meal, of course, Owlfur, we just need to send out a patrol." He meowed before giving a soft nod to answer his deputy's question. He then turned to acknowledge Weaselflight. "Alright, Weaselflight, let me know if you find something particularly concerning."

Lostpaw smiled a bit at being acknowledged. And better yet, a real patrol! Different from the simple,"And this is where we go to gathers." type of patrols most apprentices got. He gave a soft growl of annoyance at Owlfur. "I am in shape!" He muttered. Just because Owlfur acted like a couple apprentices picking at her was the worst thing ever, it didn't certainly didn't mean that he was weak! Lostpaw easily strolled over to Weaselflight for a check-up.

Weaselflight started his examination of Lostpaw with a quick look at the apprentice’s physique noting to himself how skinny the apprentice was. The Medicine Cat checked out the young cat's eyes next making sure that nothing else was wrong with them beside being blind. Afterwards he brought one of his ears to Lostpaw’s chest to listen to the apprentice’s heartbeats and breathing. With a strong heartbeat and steady breathing told him of a pretty healthy cat.

“Well, I say he looks like he is ready but I think it would be best if Lostpaw ate something small like a mouse,” Weaselflight stated after Owlfur's words, “For some extra energy.”

He went over to the senior warrior to start her check up and did the same motions as he did with the apprentice. While the Medicine Cat checked her eyes out he took small quick glances at Lostpaw and flick his tail tip letting Owlfur know he was just doing this to avoid the apprentice’s claims he was being unfair. After he finished with pressing his ears to her chest, Weaselflight stood up and said calmly, “You seemed to be in good shape as well. You're cleared to go on a patrol."

Lostpaw gave a soft smile. Normal apprentices probably didn't have to go through checkups before their first patrol, but then again, normal apprentices weren't going on full hunting/border patrols. He gave a soft nod to Weaselflight,"Nice!" He left the den, picked up a measly mouse from the fresh-kill pile, ate it quickly, and started his making his way to the camp's exit. "C'mon!" He purred to Owlfur.

Lostpaw stopped with a skid. He turned to Owlfur with a slight head-tilt. He occasionally took a moment to listen to the sounds of the forest and the air. Wingbeats overhead, flying south most likely.

He kept listening before he finally spoke in the most laconic manner,"Okay.So?"

Anger sparked in Owlfur's bulging yellow eyes as she glared at Lostpaw, her lips threatening to curl in the beginning of a snarl. Instead, the petite warrior pushed her way past the black apprentice, lashing her tail in front of his face, and stalked through the exit of camp. The snow made the forest seem still and serene, it was beautiful, but Owlfur took no time to appreciate it. There was no way she was going to train a new apprentice to hunt, not in this weather. Without thinking, the sickly looking she-cat broke out into a run, determined to warm up and let off some steam.
