Personality
+ Charismatic; Eloquent; Independent; Loyal; Observant; Sophisticated= Artful; Folksy; Outspoken; Proud; Sarcastic; Stubborn
- Abrasive; Crafty; Erratic; Fiery; Pugnacious; Willful
Duckburr seems to own a unique ability to inspire others with his charm. He has a special way with words, if he's in the right state of mind, of course. He could easily be described as persuasive and fascinating and he goes about it in a very discreet way. Duckburr also does not depend on others for anything. He enjoys being by himself and often finds himself to be better at solo activities than with a team. Some would think his joy at being aloof would cause him to be asocial but that is far from the case; he is great in social situations. His loyalties, however, lie with his clan. He can get along with members from another clan, but his trust and his heart rests with his clanmates. Duckburr rarely misses a thing, his gaze sharp and observant. His intelligence also allows him to pick up on things rather easy.
Duckburr has a dark mind. He's as sly as a fox and he often is successful in his cunning ways. He does respect others' beliefs, but his own is a traditional one. He refers to males with respective titles and females as `Lady --`. He wants a mate for a life, someone who will remain in the nursery as a forever queen and bear him multiple litters. He's not too quiet about his opinions and can be direct with his beliefs. Duckburr's proud of himself, of his clanmates, and he's not afraid to let others know it. This tom's most expressed trait is his sarcasm. He has a extreme dry sense of humor which may be considered as rude or hurtful by others. However, he's much too stubborn to apologize, just as he's much too headstrong to give up without a fight.
Duckburr is blunt. He doesn't beat around the bush, he's straightforward and often lacks in sympathy. He's creative in a calculating way, which could be dangerous considering his unpredictable personality. Nobody knows what to expect of Duckburr; he's a wild card. He has a short temper and is quick to fight, finding arguments and physical scuffles entertaining. He will get what he wants, no matter what he has to do to achieve his goal.
History
[Kithood] Duck was born to a WindClan tom named Berrywhisker and a loner by the name of Siren. He was the only kit in the litter and was cared for by his mother across the thunderpath that bordered clan territory until he was old enough to travel. His mother was very loving and caring and would allow him to join her outside where he'd play, jumping and tumbling. Not long after he'd adjusted to life in general Siren told him in the middle of the night that they were going on a small journey before scooping him up by his scruff and heading off. A couple nights a moon she'd leave Duck to travel off to WindClan territory where she'd meet with Berrywhisker in secret. They'd set up a plan where Siren and Duck would join WindClan and then they could be an actual family. Berrywhisker stood at the opposite end of the thunderpath, eagerly gazing at his kin. Siren raced towards her significant other, Duck locked between her jaws. Duck screeched as Siren tossed him to Berrywhisker where he landed roughly between his father's paws. Duck and Berrywhisker watched helplessly as a monster ran over Siren's body. They were forced to run when the monster stopped, twolegs escaping its belly and crowding around Siren. Duck had been crying loudly and caught the attention of their company. The two males ran further into WindClan territory. For the next few days Berrywhisker hid Duck from his clanmates in a bush far from camp, finally seeing reality and the likely situation that Duck wouldn't be accepted into the clan. With a heavy heart, Berrywhisker carried Duck to the next clan's territory - ThunderClan. Berrywhisker didn't want Duck to reside in a clan with a self-centered leader so he moved on to the next clan - SkyClan. Berrywhisker didn't want Duck to reside in a clan with a reckless leader so he moved on to the next clan - ShadowClan. This is the clan Duck would be raised in, to become a strong and unbeatable warrior. Berrywhisker exchanged a brisk goodbye with his son before leaving the kit at the border to return to WindClan.
Duck was found by a patrol of ShadowClan cats, his loud squealing difficult to ignore. He was taken to ShadowClan and seen as not only another mouth to feed, but another powerful warrior for the clan. He never shared his past, deciding to keep the tragic backstory to himself and looking to the future instead. Duck took on the name Duckkit and worked on earning his new clanmates' respect and trust.
[Adolescence] The tom's dark past seemed to mold his personality. He found humor was a nice way to hide the pain and he released his hurt in the form of anger. Duckpaw certainly gave his mentor a rough time, continuously getting into trouble. He would sneak out of camp without permission, train too roughly with a denmate, skip his duties, and occasionally slip insects into the nests of his clanmates. It wasn't a surprise that another moon was added to Duckpaw's apprenticeship. He didn't mind much, though, using the extra time as an advantage to get into more trouble and if he was caught he'd use the excuse that he was only an apprentice. He had three mentors throughout his adolescence, the first two dropping him before they went insane and the third one only having a short amount of time with him before he was made a warrior.
[Adulthood] During his vigil, Duckburr left his station for a run through the territory. He found himself at the end that bordered unexplored terrain. Curious, he stepped out but was quickly tackled by another feline who pushed him back into his territory. Duckburr was shocked but recovered rather swiftly and was introduced to a loner named Wren. He found that he liked her and after a brief conversation with her they decided to meet again in the later nights. He returned to his clan before anyone noticed his disappearance, relieved to find the clan in peace and not disarray. Every few nights, Duckburr would visit with Wren and form an even stronger bond. She was the only one capable of calming his temper and softening his violent nature with quiet murmurs. He'd return to camp calm and relaxed, confusing his clanmates. He didn't cause trouble for a while and met with Wren more and more often. After a few moons, she revealed to him that she was expecting his kits. Duckburr was beyond happy - he was ecstatic. His clanmates still couldn't figure out what was wrong with him, and he preferred to keep it that way until his kits were born and he could invite Wren to join ShadowClan with him.
He was off to visit Wren at their special place which was about a tree-length beyond the border and after some time he heard incredibly faint yowling. Frantic, assuming this voice belonged to his significant other, Duckburr raced off and searched aggressively for the source of the screaming. The sounds slowly grew louder only to cut off rather abruptly. Not long after, Duckburr stood over the bloodied body of Wren and the extremely small body that was his son curled at her belly. He named his deceased son Jasper because Wren would non-stop go on and on about the name. Burying the two bodies, Duckburr returned home, to ShadowClan, turning his back on his dead family as if turning his back on the past.
He was depressed for a while and visible let it show, ignoring his clanmates' questions and attempts at comfort. Finally, the tom snapped at everyone who dared approach him, his anger getting the best of him. Duckburr was rude to just about everyone when he decided a better way to go about the grieving process wasn't to be mad all the time, but try to add some joy to life. Duckburr hid his pain behind rudeness and humor, just like he'd done before. History sure had a way of repeating itself.
Duckburr was chosen to be deputy of ShadowClan, moons after losing his loved ones.
