Personality: Nightchaser is quiet, but intense. He is watchful and attentive, and always has an air of mystery about him, keeping secretive and reserved but always seeming to know more then he should, and see more then he says. Solitary in many ways, he doesn't talk much, share tongues with others, or interact much at all socially, and is prone to slipping off into the territory on his own without warning to hunt or spend time alone. A natural hunter and climber, he's quick, and agile, and in battle proves himself to be slippery and fast with his small size, and he seems to take a bit of pride out of doing battle training against others, though he rarely shows it visibly.
In some ways he can seem almost lonely, its not uncommon to catch Nightchaser staring off at other cats together, or lingering near his siblings even at a distance, but when confronted he is quick to slip away and rarely opens himself to conversation. He prefers silent camaraderie, a partner in hunting, a team in border patrols, and even then he is always eager to get away and be by himself. He enjoys night most of all, often taking the moonrise patrols and sleeping during the mid-morning and sun high into the afternoons.
Still, when one does get chance to interact with Nightchaser, they will find him a very observant and direct warrior who wastes little time or words. He's to the point, to a level of being intimidatingly intense, and with his unwavering vivid gaze this can make him seem intimidating if it were not for his small stature. He is cold at first glance, but spending time with him finds his actual manner simply a bit removed, he is far from cruel, merely efficient and not emotional at all, his feelings seemingly locked away and hidden.
History: Blackfoot was as strong and fleet a Riverclan warrior that the clan could want for. But when she grew heavy with kits one greenleaf, doubt and suspicion spread around her. She had no mate, at least not one known within the clan, and her refusal to speak of the tom who laid with her caused her clanmates to begin turning against her. Had she broken the warrior code? Who was the father? A warrior from another clan? A stray?
Blackfoot would bear 4 kits for the clan, and would focus all her efforts on being a mother and queen for them, and eventually the anger of her clanmates would fade. The kits all were strong and silky of pelt, and it seemed despite her silence on their parentage, she was still a loyal clan cat and her kits were still strong new blood in the clan. But as her kits grew into apprentices, she began drifting again, disappearing mysteriously at odd times. A clan member followed her eventually one evening, and caught her with a black tom outside the borders of Riverclan. A stranger. A loner. Blackfoot would flee the clan, taking up the name Grackle to match her mate Mockingbird, and that would be the last Nightchaser, then Nightpaw, would know of her. Eyes would watch him and his siblings, their training either becoming gentler or harsher, others wary around him, suspecting or worrying at their true allegiance. Yet all would finish their apprenticeship and work to become warriors. They were all Riverclan still even if Blackfoot was no longer and their father never had been.
At least so Nightchaser thought. Yet it was not long after receiving their warrior names that the siblings began noticing loners at the border. Very oddly familiar loners. Crowleap found them first, but he would come to secret the other three out to meet them as well. Three cats, velvety black, one older then them but the other two young enough to be apprentices, yet there was no mistaking the kinship between them all. They were their younger siblings and an older cat of relations, a child of their father from a different she-cat. Mockingbird and Grackle still lived, and not far distant either, and they did well. For a time Mystery and Secret would stay on the borders, sneaking in when they could to speak to their siblings before heading back home. Then when Raven finally returned to his home, they would find Crowleap gone as well, the warrior gone to join his family as a rogue.
The suspicion returned anew, and Nightchaser grew more secretive, more solitary, while Shadowfang and Panthertail stuck close to each other, wandering closer and closer to the borders of the clan. His own thoughts were not clearly decided, but to bide his time he would opt to take on an apprentice, to ease the suspicions of his clanmates if nothing else.
