Name: Featherpaw
Age: 7 moons
Gender: Female
Clan: RiverClan
Rank: Apprentice

Formal Description: Featherpaw has the best of both her WindClan and RiverClan sides. She has the thick, glossy pelt of a RiverClan cat, perfect for swimming. She also has the lithe build of a WindClan warrior, made for running. Her gray tabby pelt allows her to easily blend in with her surroundings. Her green eyes complement her pelt, though Featherpaw wishes for water blue eyes instead. She carries herself with confidence most of the time, though enough pressure and suspicious will render her a defeated-looking cat.
Breed: Mixed
Summary Description: a gray tabby with clear green eyes

Personality: Featherpaw is strong-willed and determined. She's very good at setting goals and working to reach them. She forces herself to be outgoing and act confident, though deep down she's constantly worried about how her clan mates are perceiving her. She feels the pressure of RiverClan's watchful eyes, always waiting for her to slip up in her loyalties. In response to this, she tries to deny her WindClan side and embrace her RiverClan side in whatever ways she can. If Featherpaw wanted to, she could become one of the fastest cats in RiverClan, if not the fastest. However, she'll intentionally run a little slower, hoping cats might forget one of her parents came from beyond their borders. Featherpaw is much more likely to be found practicing fishing or swimming, determined to master the skills of a good RiverClan warrior.
Featherpaw takes extreme action when it comes to the problems in her life. She doesn't always think before she acts, especially if she believes her action will show loyalty to RiverClan. She also has yet to attend a gathering or meet many cats outside of RiverClan, and as such does not have very informed opinions on cats from beyond her borders. This leads to her viewing them with suspicion, prejudiced against the motives of outsiders. She'll tell any cat that RiverClan is the best, but she doesn't actually know enough about other cats to articulate why.
Featherpaw feels pretty worthless deep down, which is part of what motivates her to try to become a great warrior. She hopes once she becomes a respected RiverClan warrior, she'll be accepted by her clan mates and find the love she craves. Featherpaw believes that she should have never been born, but is trying to make the best of being alive and in RiverClan.
History: Featherkit was born to Pebbleeyes at the end of new-leaf, as the weather grew warm and the fish became plentiful. Featherkit loved her mother as most kits do, and was dependent on her mother as all kits are. She remembers very little of Pebbleeyes, with a few faint memories of curling up against her and only one truly clear memory. Featherpaw distinctly remembers asking Pebbleeyes who her father was, and the answer she gave. "He is the bravest warrior in all of Clans. You're so lucky to have him as a father, Featherkit."
The most vivid memory from Featherpaw's kithood was waking up alone in the nursery as a young kit and mewling for Pebbleeyes. The other queens told her they would go look for her. Featherkit calmed down and went back to sleep, expecting Pebbleeyes would be back when she woke up. She was unaware of the conversation going on in camp, as the cats of RiverClan realized that Pebbleeyes had abandoned the Clans with Falconclaw. When Featherkit woke up, Pebbleeyes had not returned, and Mudkit's mother said she needed to have a conversation with her.
The queen told Featherkit that Pebbleeyes had ran away from RiverClan to be with Falconclaw, her father the WindClan warrior. The queen would be taking care of Featherkit with Mudkit from now on. She explained that her parents' actions were against the warrior code, and it hurt RiverClan when its warriors were disloyal in that way. Featherkit also learned of brother Cindermist that day, and that his actions were equally disloyal to RiverClan. Featherkit was devastated both from learning that Pebbleeyes wouldn't be coming back and that her whole family were traitors to RiverClan.
Featherkit grew up in a Clan that didn't really trust her. Her adoptive mother made sure that both she and Mudkit learned the warrior code, especially emphasizing the importance of loyalty to RiverClan over personal desires and feelings. The elders told her stories of doomed forbidden romances that always ended in tragedy. More than one cat implied that her existence was a transgression against RiverClan. She was criticized the harshest of any kit in RiverClan for typical kithood misbehavior. Once when talking to the other kits about becoming an apprentice, they all agreed that they didn't want to do any of the "boring stuff" like checking the elders for ticks or gathering moss. One of the queens in the nursery singled out Featherkit for a fierce scolding, comparing her to parents and letting her know she would never be a true RiverClan cat with an attitude like that. That day Featherkit learned that she was always going to be more closely scrutinized than her peers.
Featherkit learned to suppress feelings that would attract judgment from her clan mates. She also started to pay attention the qualities and skills that RiverClan cats seemed to value. Her feelings of shame and isolation motivated her to become such a loyal RiverClan warrior that no cat would ever question her. Perhaps then she would be fully accepted and loved by her clan mates.
When the time came for her apprentice ceremony, Featherpaw was thrilled to be selected as Brightstar's apprentice. In the back of her mind, she knew that Brightstar picked her as an apprentice to make sure that she would stay loyal, but she tried to focus on using it as an opportunity to prove her loyalty to RiverClan.
As a new apprentice, Featherpaw worked hard, doing whatever her mentor asked of her without complaint. Her fervor for RiverClan only grew as she began to learn the ways of warrior. For instance, she eagerly charged into battle when a patrol she was on got into border scuffle with a ShadowClan patrol. She wounded the medicine cat apprentice, Dovepaw, using her claws to defend her precious RiverClan.
Now, Featherpaw is looking for more opportunities to show her loyalty to RiverClan and her distaste for the other clans (particularly WindClan).

I love this song for Featherpaw because it's relevant to both her attitude towards other clans and RiverClan's attitude toward her.
