Age: 70 moons
Gender: Female.
Clan: SkyClan
Rank: Senior Warrior

Formal Description: Perhaps the most noticeable quality of this warrior is the sheer size of her frame. From her paws, to her tail, this she-cat towers over many of her clanmates and other clanners alike. Her almost exotic, silvery coat of tabby fur is long, giving her a thick plume of a tail, a ruff of soft, silver-white fur on her chest, and slight tufts of fur on her ears. Her tabby stripes are a bold gray, marbling her sides and back in a swirling pattern but leaving pencil-thin lines on her face, forehead and legs. Her face is generally expressionless, held in the most relaxed position possible -- which is known to most of the population as having a 'resting bitch face' -- with sharp yellow eyes tinged with slight green hues.
Breed: B I G (part Norwegian Forest Cat)
Summary Description: A very large, long furred silver tabby she-cat with piercing yellow eyes.

Personality: Nothing much can rattle Hailrush; she's a rock of stoicism. In the face of danger, she is quick to think and act. She prefers to not speak as much as others do, stemming from her inability to truely connect with other cats; this however, can come off as intimidating or even menacing due to her size and sharp yellow gaze. With few friends in her clan, it is not uncommon for the large warrior to even go unnoticed on slow days.
Despite her stoic behavior, Hailrush seems to open up when training apprentices. Having trained quite a few of them, the large she-cat finds mentoring to be the most satisfying part of being a warrior. This doesn't mean that her new apprentices are quick to warm up to her, of course, as she still manages to be a touch... imposing to younger cats. Despite what could be seen as a rough start, her apprentices are trained diligently and skillfullyl, generally ending up embracing the somewhat awkward she-cat.
History: Hailrush's history begins with an unruly mother, Willowfire, dissatisfied with the cats her clan had to offer. No one could doubt the desire she had to have offspring -- although many knew there was probably an ulterior motive to it -- yet no clan cat was quite strong enough for her to warrant having kits with; she needed foreign blood. Her endeavors led the SkyClan deputy to the two-leg place, where she found a large kittypet. He was meek and cowardly and was in no control over his own strength, yet easily swayed by her charms. As soon as Willowfire knew she was pregnant, she cut off ties to the tom, threatening him to never try and find her.
As deputy of SkyClan at the time, it was certainly odd for Willowfire to have kits sired by an unknown origin; yet the clan seemed to at least trust her words and judgement. When Hailkit was born, no cat could really complain either; she might have been an only kit, but she was easily the size of two! Pressed by her mother at a young age to be the clan's leader, Hailkit was quick to take this request to heart. Willowfire would speak of the duties that clan deputies and leaders had and made it seem as though it was the only worthwhile path to be undertaken in clan life -- anything short of success was a grievous failure. In order to ensure success, Willowfire took a personal investment into her daughter, requesting that she be Hailpaw's mentor directly out of the nursery.
It should be noted, of course, Willowfire was not the greatest role model for the young Hailpaw. It was clear what her goal was -- train Hailpaw into a fierce warrior, convince the leader give her daughter an apprentice as soon as possible and, as soon as she was known as Willowstar, she would appoint her only daughter as her second-in-command. This was the plan and it was non-negotiable. For the span of her short life, Hailpaw never really knew how to 'play' or 'have fun'; she didn't hang out with her fellow apprentices or learn to make friends and was an only-kit to boot. Her resulting childhood had been a constant cycle of 'work', 'learn', 'eat', 'sleep' and repeat. This left her viewed as a shrewd, callous and unfeeling brute to many of her peers.
Hailrush was quickly made a warrior under Willowfire's guidance and, within moons, had her first apprentice -- Goosepaw. The young apprentice was a flighty tom who couldn't really handle the pressure that Hailrush had put on him, at first; it was this experience that taught Hailrush that her relationship with her mother wasn't exactly a normal one by any means. A mentorship that included nothing but work was not ideal, especially when having such a nervous apprentice. It took awhile, but the young warrior worked with Goosepaw to his own strengths and built his confidence. For the first time in her life, Hailrush felt a rush of passion for what she was doing; no longer did she feel like she was 'going through the motions,' but instead as though some sort of purpose had been gained. Goosepaw became known as Gooseflight; the silver tabby felt prouder at his warrior ceremony than she had at her own.
When she was 30 moons old, Willowfire had been killed in a battle, leaving the warrior truly alone and isolated. After her mother died, Hailrush really didn't know how to feel; Willowfire had really been her only friend in the clan, if she could even call her that. She knew how tragic it was to her clanmates when a family member was lost, but she found that she and Willowfire never had a relationship that was anything more than formal. It was like learning that a brief acquaintance had passed away to her. This revelation shook her to her core and she was found wondering if she ever knew what love was. In her confused stupor, the large warrior took a mate, Dewfoot -- a tom that had noticeably been padding after her; she was never quite sure if she loved him, but he seemed so enamored that it didn't make a difference.
When Hailrush learned she was pregnant, the she-cat at last found the feeling she had been missing for all her moons. Once they had been born, she immediately felt the fierce protective rush of a mother towards her three little ones, Dapplekit, Dawnkit and Breezekit. It was similar, she noted, to the feelings she got when training an apprentice, the only joy she had found under her mother's strict guidance. It was an odd feeling to be free of her restraint, yet she wouldn't have it any other way. She was very different than Willowfire; her kits would grow to be free to pursue their own paths and she would die to protect them from anything that wished to stop them.
Despite her silent oath to protect her young ones from danger and pain, it seemed that one after the other, her kits managed to wind up in disaster. Dapplepaw was killed alongside her mentor by a marauding badger only a moon into her apprenticeship; Dawnpetal and Breezeheart had both died of an illness in early Leafbare, barely having been made warriors for a season. The parents were both devastated, with different ways of expressing it; Hailrush tried to better herself and take steps towards preventing more unneeded death. Dewfoot tried to find comfort in his mate and sorely needed her to show some shred of visible sadness, but she simply couldn't grieve the same way he did. He called her a callous monster, an accusation that still haunts her to this day; their relationship was quick to end after that. Dewfoot disappered within a few moons, never to return; the medicine cat at the time confirmed his presence in StarClan later.
Hailrush does her best for her clan, despite not being quite as respected in comparison to others of her age and stature. She remains the most experienced mentor in the clan and takes this job very seriously. In battle, she can almost hover around her previous apprentices in a move to protect them from an untimely death; having lost her own kits, she has found solace in protecting her trainees like she would her own kin.
While upset, of course, that such a young and reckless warrior was made deputy and later leader, Hailrush doesn't see Lionstar as her enemy; she no longer has the desire to live up to Willowfire's mantra. No, instead, the she-cat does want to see him succeed as a powerful and experienced leader of SkyClan and knows that his younger years will pale in comparison to the ones that come.
Even with the renoucement of Willowfire's dream, Hailrush's contempt lies within herself. She still finds herself feeling as though she has failed her mother in some way, despite knowing that all she ever was to Willowfire, was a pawn to move on a chessboard.
